In partnership with Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, The Prince's Trust are offering a FREE online employment training course, giving you a fantastic opportunity to start a career as a Lab Support Worker.

This programme is designed to give you the skills and experience you need to become a successful applicant.

By attending this programme you will have a guaranteed interview with Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to secure a Lab Support Worker role with a hourly rate of £9.48

What does a Lab Support Worker do?

You will support the NHS's work in fighting Coronavirus. Your main tasks will be to remove sample containers from their packaging, record that they have been received, place the containers in trays, and prepare them and the lab machines so that analysis can be carried out.

Everything is carried out in a safe, Covid-secure environment with personal protective equipment (PPE) provided.

Working hours will be worked Wednesday - Saturday inclusive and worked on a rota basis of a week on day shifts and a week of night shifts.

- No previous experience or qualifications are necessary

WHO: Young people aged 18-30 who are passionate about healthcare and have the right to work in the UK.

WHEN: Monday 28th February - Friday 4th March 2022

WHERE: Take part from home using your phone, tablet or computer (Microsoft Teams)

During the 5-day virtual course you can expect:

  • Information about the employer, job roles and the work involved
  • Online application support by sector experts
  • Group interview preparation sessions
  • A guaranteed interview directly with the employer
  • Access to funding to help you start work e.g. DBS checks, uniform, travel, etc.
  • 3 months of mentoring support to help you settle into the role
